About:

"In a surfer's paradise, can I blur the line between life on land and the ecstasy of catching the perfect wave?"

This piece was the initial concept brought to life in the collection. The Mary Jane green skull symbolizes the mainland, while the cement fluff serves as a metaphor for the mind's longing to ride the perfect wave. It evokes a sense of liberation, akin to the feeling of "schools out" when the bell rings. When viewed from the top, miniature vignettes of surfers in the “water” can be seen. A deep blue cherry drip draws the viewer's gaze vertically down the piece. The skull is positioned within a pool of green, blue, and white, creating a harmonious blend of colors representing both land and water.

Symbolism:

ecstasy of the surf, dedication, and land vs. water
